I have been teaching a lot of leaders lately and my thoughts have been occupied with “NT biblical leadership”. I really believe that this is one of the greatest needs in the church today…to understand the heart, mind and behavior of a christian leader. I love this scripture:
1 Peter 5: 1 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.

Peter makes it clear that leaders are not to dominate or control in fear but to lead by example and faith. Jesus is the greatest leader. You never see Him control His disciples, He leads them by example by faith.
Faith is the keyword in leadership. Humility is another one. Servant a third one.
If your” leader” don’t have those characteristics…do not follow him/her.
I am tired of meeting people that have been under abusive leadership…and now suffer cause of that.

The sun is shining today in Fleet…first time since end of September last year…I am happy.
Later this week I am heading off to Zurich but now I will enjoy a few days in my house with my wife…life could be worse…
